Now Shipping: The Zerno Z2 Grinder

Exciting news: The first Z2 units have started dispatching from Zerno HQ! This milestone marks a significant moment for our team, the Zerno community, and coffee lovers everywhere.

We engineered the Z2 for precision and performance, and we purposefully designed it to elevate your daily ritual and fuel your coffee journey for years to come. So we were honored to announce that the Z2 is in consideration for Best New Product of 2026 by the Specialty Coffee Association.

With the Z2, we wanted to create an 80mm grinder that brings commercial-grade capability, precision, and control to a countertop footprint. Hand assembled in Chicago, the Z2 combines custom-engineered architecture, aerospace-level tolerances, and premium materials such as stainless steel, aircraft-grade aluminum, and fine hardwoods. Every component was designed from the ground up with swappable elements that empower users to create their ideal workflow, grind, and coffee—supporting experimentation without compromising alignment, consistency, or design.

For months, we have been working tirelessly to ensure we deliver a grinder that meets our standards and surpasses your expectations. Every adjustment we’ve made along the way has centered around surpassing that high bar, we are confident the Z2 reflects the care and craftsmanship that has gone into it.

Here are just a few of the latest Z2 design updates: 

Redesigned Rotating Burr System: We optimized one of the most tolerance-sensitive parts of the grinder to ensure it delivers long-term consistency with minimal noise, even at higher RPMs.

New Chute Design: To help minimize mess, we implemented a new, longer chute so that all your grounds make it safely into the dosing cup.

Re-machined Front Assemblies: For an even more precise alignment, we decided to re-machine the front assembly for a more consistent alignment—as close as one micron. (See it for yourself in our February update video)

These refinements all compliment the Z2’s <15um hyperalignment, stepless front-facing grind adjustment, variable RPM grind speed, slow feed prebreaker system, blind and traditional 80mm burr compatibility, whisper-quiet 800W brushless motor, build-in chute knocker, and purge mode that keeps mess and retention to a minimum. It all comes together in a stunning minimalist design, making the Z2 an unparalleled platform for precision, quality, and exploration.
