Z2 Production & Manufacturing Update
We are excited to bring your Z2 grinder to life, and wanted to give you some updates on how things are coming along:
Svenska Kullagerfabriken(SKF) Bearings
We’re using oversized bearings from the Swedish company SKF. The global leader in bearing manufacturing, SKF products are known for their reliability and play a key role in achieving the hyper-alignment that makes the Z2 such a precise and consistent grinder.
Motor System Advancements
We’re making significant updates to our custom motor driver. Production Z2 units will now include a larger motor than originally planned—this comes as a free upgrade for all customers.
At the same time, we’ve been pushing the limits of RPM control. The current Z2 range is 800–1600 RPM, but we’ve been exploring requests to extend the low-end. Direct-drive systems typically struggle here, but with our in-house servo motor driver and controller, we’re seeing promising results. Early tests indicate the potential for a 200–1600 RPM range, maintaining both torque and stability at very low speeds. More testing is underway, and we’ll share data as soon as we have validated results.
Ditting Burr Compatibility
The Z2’s burr ecosystem is growing. Our latest focus is the Ditting 805 blind burr set, which presents a unique challenge due to its smaller internal diameter compared to standard 80mm burrs. We’ve modified our test rigs to accommodate this geometry, and full performance evaluation is beginning shortly.
What's Next - Manufacturing & Assembly
This is the largest and most important phase of your grinder's journey. You can expect to receive an update email with more details when your Z2 enters the next production phase.
