Stainless Steel Internals

We’ve upgraded the grind chamber and the medium/slow feed augers on the Zerno Z1 from anodized aluminum to stainless steel.

Why it matters: Stainless is stronger, more durable, and allows for tighter machining tolerances—resulting in smoother feeding, better alignment, and a more solid overall feel.

While equipment manufacturers traditionally rely on 6061 aluminum, we manufactured our parts with high-strength structural aerospace-grade 7075.

Compared to 7075 anodized aluminum parts used previously, stainless steel better maintains tighter tolerances, can be precisely machined, and maintains alignment over years of use while being the standard in professional kitchens.

This transition also gave us the opportunity to refine the auger geometry itself.

The new design provides a smoother, more consistent feed of beans through the burrs, improving grind uniformity and repeatability—especially at lower feed rates.

The result is a grinder that performs with greater consistency, looks sharper inside and out, and is built to last.
